    famio ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our platform. By using famio, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

    1. Information We Collect

    Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and the password you set (stored securely as a hashed value — we never store plain-text passwords).

    Family data: You voluntarily provide information about your family members, including names, ages, chores, rules, rewards, schedules, and token balances. This data is associated with your account and stored securely.

    Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the platform, including pages visited, features used, and actions taken (such as logging chores or awarding tokens). This helps us improve the service.

    Payment information: Billing and payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your credit card number or payment details on our servers.

    Communications: If you contact us for support, we retain the content of that communication to help resolve your issue.

    2. How We Use Your Information

    We use your information to:

    • Provide, operate, and maintain the famio platform
    • Send email notifications you have configured (daily reminders, weekly summaries, violation alerts)
    • Process your subscription and manage billing through Stripe
    • Respond to your support requests and communications
    • Analyse usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs
    • Send transactional emails related to your account (password resets, invitations)

    We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your family data for advertising purposes.

    3. Children's Data

    famio is designed for parents and guardians (18+) to manage their household. Child member profiles within the platform (names, ages, chore assignments, token balances) are created and managed by the parent/guardian account holder — not by the children themselves.

    We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently received personal information from a child, please contact us at famio@famio.tech and we will delete it promptly.

    4. Data Storage and Security

    Your data is stored on secure, hosted cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

    While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your famio account.

    5. Third-Party Services

    We use the following third-party services in connection with operating famio:

    • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
    • Email delivery providers — for sending transactional and notification emails
    • Hosting infrastructure — secure cloud hosting for the platform and database

    Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

    6. Your Rights and Choices

    You have the following rights regarding your data:

    • Access: You can view and manage your family data within the platform at any time.
    • Correction: You can update your account information and family data directly in the app.
    • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at famio@famio.tech. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
    • Email preferences: You can manage your notification email preferences from the Settings section of your dashboard.

    If you are located in the EU/EEA, you may also have rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

    7. Data Retention

    We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance reasons (e.g., billing records for a reasonable period).

    8. Cookies

    famio uses minimal cookies and local browser storage necessary for authentication (keeping you logged in) and saving your preferences (such as language selection). We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

    9. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of famio after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
