    Terms of Service

    Effective date: May 13, 2026

Welcome to famio. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the famio platform and services ("Service"). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using famio, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

    1. Eligibility

famio is intended for use by adults who are parents or legal guardians managing a household. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and have the legal authority to enter into these Terms.

Children's profiles within the platform are created and managed by the parent/guardian account holder. Children do not create their own accounts.

    2. The Service

famio is a family management platform that helps parents build household structure through tools including chore tracking, rule management, token rewards, habit cards, schedules, and family analytics.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for material changes that affect your use of the Service.

    3. AI-Generated Content & Limitations

famio includes AI-powered features, including the in-app assistant ("Aimee") and the public chatbot. AI responses are generated by large language models and may be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, biased, or inappropriate. You should not rely on any AI output as a sole basis for decisions about your child's health, safety, education, or wellbeing.

You are responsible for reviewing AI suggestions, applying your own judgment, and seeking review from a qualified professional where appropriate before acting on them.

    4. No Professional Relationship

Your use of famio does not create a therapist-client, counselor-client, doctor-patient, attorney-client, or emergency-response relationship between you (or any member of your family) and famio, its operators, or any contributor to its content or AI features.

famio is a self-help organizational tool. Any educational content, suggested rules, suggested chores, suggested rewards, habit cards, or AI conversations are general parenting information only — they are not professional advice and are not a substitute for licensed care.

    5. No Diagnosis, Treatment, or Medical Advice

famio does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical, developmental, behavioral, psychiatric, or psychological condition. The Service does not recommend, prescribe, or evaluate medications or treatment plans.

Always consult a licensed physician, psychologist, therapist, or other qualified provider for any question about your or your child's health, development, mental health, or treatment.

    6. Not for Emergencies

The Service is not monitored in real time and must not be used in an emergency. famio cannot summon emergency responders and cannot intervene in a crisis.

If a child is in danger, has been injured, is being harmed, or is experiencing a mental-health crisis (including thoughts of suicide or self-harm), stop using famio and contact your local emergency services immediately. In the United States, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911. Outside the United States, contact your local emergency number or nearest hospital.

    8. Sensitive Health Information (PHI)

famio is not designed to receive, store, or process Protected Health Information (PHI), clinical records, formal diagnoses, medication details, therapy notes, or other regulated health data. famio is not a HIPAA-covered service for end users.

You should not submit medical records, clinical diagnoses, prescription details, therapy session notes, or similarly sensitive health information into the Service (including into the chatbot or any uploaded image). If you choose to submit such information, you do so at your own discretion and you acknowledge that the information is not treated by famio as PHI and is not protected as such.

    9. User Responsibility & Acknowledgment

By using famio, you acknowledge and agree that:

    • You will use AI suggestions and educational content as general guidance only and will apply your own judgment as a parent or guardian.
    • You will seek licensed professional help for diagnosis, treatment, crisis situations, or legal questions.
    • You will not rely on famio in any emergency.
    • Any sensitive information you choose to submit is submitted at your discretion and is not intended as PHI.
    • famio, its operators, and its content contributors are not acting as your or your child's healthcare, mental-health, legal, or emergency provider.

    10. Account Registration

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account and to update this information to keep it accurate.

    11. Subscription and Billing

Free trial: New accounts receive a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. Payment information is collected at the start of your trial to validate your card, but you will not be charged until the trial ends.

Subscription: After your trial, famio is available for $29 per month per family. Your subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel.

Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to the Service until the end of your current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial months.

Payment processing: All payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.

Price changes: We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.

    12. Acceptable Use

You agree to use famio only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

    • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
    • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems
    • Use the Service to transmit harmful, offensive, or unlawful content
    • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
    • Use the Service for commercial purposes other than managing your own household
    • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
    • Submit Protected Health Information or other regulated sensitive data into the Service

    13. Your Content and Data

Your family data (names, chores, rules, schedules, and other content you enter) remains yours. We do not claim ownership of the data you create within famio.

By using famio, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for ensuring that your use of the Service complies with applicable laws.

    14. Privacy

Your use of famio is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

    15. Intellectual Property

The famio platform, including its design, code, branding, and content (excluding your family data), is owned by famio and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works based on the Service without our prior written consent.

    16. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, or that any AI-generated output will be accurate, complete, or appropriate. As described in Sections 3–9, famio is an organizational tool — it is not a substitute for licensed medical, mental-health, legal, or emergency care.

    17. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FAMIO AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

    18. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, fail to pay your subscription fees, or engage in conduct that we determine is harmful to other users or the Service. You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account from Settings.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

    19. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

    20. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first; if unresolved, disputes shall be subject to binding arbitration or the jurisdiction of the courts in the applicable territory.
